Case Study
Shipping - Class UWILD Survey

Work type: Class UWILD Survey
Duration: 1 day
Team Size: 5 man surface supplied Team 1 Skipper 2 deck hands

Overview of Process and works completed:

UK Diveworks Commercial (UKDC) were contracted to assist in a UWILD class survey for Lloyds on a 190m Bulk carrier at the offshore berth situated in Portland Harbour.

The request came in on a Sunday afternoon with a requirement for a next day completion. This was due to the vessels requirement to set sale early the following day.

UKDC Management quickly established the full requirements of the works. Full Risk Assessment and Method Statements were produced, along with raising an internal equipment order which is handled by our in-house Internal Maintenance and Scheduling System (IMASS).

A vessel was quickly sourced from one of our suppliers and dive permits were gained quickly through Portland Harbour Office.

Once mobilised, the DSV (Dive Support Vessel) departed from the quayside and docked with the bulk carrier. Full ship lockdown was completed and a tag out system was enforced on board the vessel. UK Diveworks Commercial then completed 2 dives to gather all the required information. This detail was then transferred in to a detailed report. A memory stick was supplied on site to the Lloyds Surveyor which had clear HD video footage and still imagery. Consequent to this, the vessel was signed off and allowed to continue its onward journey.
